Passionate for educating all students, Robert Breyer has touched the lives of more than 6,000 students during his tenure as a professional in education as a classroom teacher and an administrator at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. In his quest of becoming a school administrator, Robert was selected to the first Sandhills Leadership Academy class, which is a selective process to prepare a cadre of highly effective school leaders for high needs schools in the Sandhills region. Beyond that, Robert brought with him to his role as an educational leader an extensive background in successfully facilitating teams in large private sector companies and working with various technologies. These experiences, coupled with his own personal quest of growing as a school leader through various professional development opportunities and conferences, have shaped Robert into a reflective and effective school leader who sets the example for his peers, teachers, and students.
When Robert made the transition from classroom teacher to school administrator, he made a promise to himself and the teachers, students, and parents with whom he would interact on a daily basis. That promise was to go beyond the desk and to become an active school leader who would engage with the school community both inside and outside of the building. To accomplish that, he drew upon his pre-service experience in leading teams in the private sector and his principal preparation program with the Sandhills Leadership Academy. Both of these experiences helped to shape his philosophy that leading and managing are two completely different mentalities and that for him, he would choose to be a transformative leader who works alongside his staff to implement positive changes
